Master Class with Pilobolus!

The core values of Pilobolus are creativity, collaboration and communication. This workshop is designed to give students an experience of the Pilobolus creative process and our signature techniques of improvisation, partnering and collaborative choreography. Current Pilobolus dancers will lead students through an improvisational warmup, movement based problem solving, weight sharing techniques and group dance making. The class concludes with a choreographic project and performance for their peers.
Challenge the way you think about dance in this master class, geared for intermediate and advanced dancers 12 years and up. $15 (cash or checks made out to Manship Theatre)

Providing opportunities for Baton Rouge area dancers to interact with professional dance artists is a vital part of BRBT’s mission. Master classes allow community dancers to learn directly from the unique talents and perspectives of visiting professional guest artists and master teachers. Past master classes have been led by professional artists with AileyII, BalletX, Body Traffic, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Houston Ballet II, Martha Graham Dance Company, Philodanco, Ririe-Woodberry and more.
Pilobolus’ appearance in Baton Rouge is presented as a collaboration between the Manship Theatre at Shaw Center for the Arts and Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre and is generously supported by grants from the Irene W. and C. B. Pennington Foundation, the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
